This month’s link roundup is a call to reduce stress in our lives by taking a timeout!
Lately, I’ve been feeling moved to find some balance in my life. I suffer from really awful migraines. I take 3 pills per day to manage them, and when that doesn’t work (usually a few times per month) I take prescription strength pain pills and a pill for vertigo. For the past few years, my doctors and I have been trying to pinpoint my migraine triggers. I have eliminated some food culprits, but nothing has been really identified as the cause. My doctor suggested that stress may be a big cause of my migraines, and I may not realize it because the onset of my symptoms is when I’m starting to relax, not in the thick of things. I was skeptical, but this last weekend has solidified it for me. Work has been crazy lately, and sure enough on Saturday afternoon once I got some downtime, the migraine came on. I’m still in some pain today.
Sorry for rambling on, but I share all of this to encourage you to please, please, please join me in taking some time out for YOU. We work so hard to fulfill all of our obligations and be all things to everyone. It’s time we learn to schedule our timeouts. The best way to reduce stress is by setting aside time to relax, unwind and tune in to ourselves. For me, I took time out to give myself a mani and pedi, and caught up on one of my favorite shows. How are you going to take a timeout this week?
